Evergreen Garden Care (EGC) is set to continue its peat-free journey to help drive sustainability efforts in the gardening category forward – with the aim of making major brands Miracle-Gro and Levington 100% peat-free within the next few years.

Ahead of the government regulations, EGC continues to pave the way setting the industry standard through product action, financial investment and leading discussion and education. 

To continue its environment-focused initiative of removing peat from all compost products, EGC has invested £7 million this year alone on the transition. The investment consists of improved supply chain and storage capacity. The journey to peat free is not a simple one, with peat-free compost containing a greater variety of raw materials that need to be sourced from multiple locations across the world versus peat compost which is compiled mostly of a singular ingredient. 

This year, EGC will extend its position as the most comprehensive and high-quality peat-free brand on the market, by launching a Levington John Innes Peat-Free Range, completing its entirely peat-free portfolio.
