Burgon & Ball today is respected as the UK’s oldest manufacturer of garden tools and accessories, and enjoys an enviable reputation for quality and innovation. And since the Sheffield-based company joined the Venanpri global family of the finest hand tool brands at the start of the year, it has also enjoyed the support of a multinational organisation with truly global reach.
Ruth Posey, head of sales at Burgon & Ball, says: “Joining the Venanpri group has allowed us to benefit from the expertise of a family of well-established, high quality brands, which are well-known across Europe and North America, and as a result we are operating more productively.
“Commercially, too, there are advantages; we are seeing exports of Burgon & Ball products increase, and of course we are able to bring the outstanding tools manufactured by our fellow Venanpri brands to the UK – extending choices for British garden retailers, and for their customers.
“The first of these, of course, is Corona, which is launching at GLEE this autumn. These exceptional tools, engineered for durability and performance, have been a byword for quality in North America since 1928; they’re a favourite with both landscaping professionals and keen gardeners. We are very pleased to be the exclusive UK distributor for this American heritage brand.”
The Burgon & Ball facilities in Sheffield, including the factory in Malin Bridge which first opened its doors in 1873, have seen significant investment under Venanpri, and commitment to the continuing manufacture of tools in the renowned steelmaking city remains as high on the agenda as ever.
The new Super Slice launching at Glee is hand-forged in the Sheffield factory. This excellent new tool extends the capabilities of the award-winning and top-selling Weed Slice. It’s superbly efficient at weeding larger areas, such as veg beds or even allotments, and it’s also extremely adept at weeding in the contemporary finishes used in today’s gardens, such as aggregates, which can prove a challenge for some other weeders.
With the backing of the Venanpri family of brands, and its finger as firmly as ever on the pulse of gardening trends, Burgon & Ball is set to continue growing on strong roots.
