The launch of Burgon & Ball’s revolutionary new BoronGreen range of boron steel tools has been enthusiastically received by the trade at Glee this week.
Burgon & Ball has unveiled the range at its new location in Hall 9, where BoronGreen’s unique and compelling proposition has attracted great interest. Believed to be a first in UK gardening tools, the range offers superior boron steel performance combined with robust environmental credentials - including 80% recycled steel.
Adding the element boron to carbon steel gives a composition that is stronger, tougher, and more durable than regular carbon steel. It’s used in the car industry and in the agricultural sector, where it delivers stronger structural components and longer-lasting wear parts. With BoronGreen, Burgon & Ball has applied this materials technology to gardening tools, producing a new level of performance, superior to an equivalent tool in carbon steel.
Visitors have also been impressed by BoronGeen’s robust environmental credentials, which has strong appeal for today’s sustainability-minded consumer. Uniquely, the tools heads are crafted in 80% recycled steel, with handles and shafts in FSC-certified white ash wood, selected for its strength and shock-absorbing properties.
All this is combined with Burgon & Ball’s hallmark considered design, which includes a tough powder coating in olive green, to protect the metal; a visible sharpened edge on spade, trowel, etc. to highlight lasting sharpness; and a thermo-treated FSC-certified ash grip for comfort, increased durability and moisture resistance. What’s more, the range comes with RHS endorsement and a 25-year guarantee.
