Johnsons Lawn Seed, the leading name in the UK lawn care industry, has announced a series of significant investments aimed at meeting growing retail demand and enhancing its overall product offering efficiency.
Meet Titan
Johnsons Lawn Seed, alongside its parent company, DLF, has committed £3.5 million to the acquisition and installation of Titan, an advanced mixing and bagging automation machine, marking the biggest and most notable investment for the company in many years.
Titan, the state-of-the-art machine, represents a monumental leap forward for Johnsons Lawn Seed. With 48 seed bins, it has a capacity to hold 150 tonnes of seed with the ability to pack hundreds of 5kg, 10kg and 20kg bags per hour. This high-capacity system not only improves the company's line efficiency but also significantly increases its production capacity, allowing Johnsons to better meet the seasonal demands of its customers.
One of the standout features of Titan is its pneumatic closed system, which ensures that the seed is filtered upon entry using a “star cleaner” – a technology also employed in the food industry to eliminate debris and guarantee that only pure seed is processed. Furthermore, Titan's rotary valves, diverter valves, and connecting pipes are self-cleaning, minimising the risk of contamination during the mixing process. This attention to detail ensures that Johnsons Lawn Seed continues to deliver high-quality products to its consumers.

Robot arms
In addition to Titan, Johnsons Lawn Seed has invested in six new robotic arms for its carton packaging line, further enhancing the company’s ability to meet increasing demand. This investment in automation and technology underscores Johnsons’ commitment to innovation and efficiency in the lawn care industry.
New showcase facility
Looking ahead, the company is also developing a new showcase facility at its Worcestershire headquarters, which is scheduled to be fully operational by spring 2025. Spanning six hectares, this facility will be one of the largest of its kind in the UK, and will be dedicated to consumer and amenity seed trials, product development, training, and education for distributors and customers. Visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to view current mixtures as well as trial and demo formulations for future products.

Working with our partners & supporting retailers
Further investments include a strengthened partnership with Whites, Johnsons Lawn Seeds’ logistics partner, to ensure a well-organised and efficient distribution network, with a fully stocked warehouse ready to support pre-season demand.
Additionally, a newly redesigned website will soon go live, offering an enhanced online experience for consumers, whilst also optimising retailer lead generation. The new website will feature improved lawn care guides, tips, and a retailer stockist map, supported by SEO and on-packaging QR codes to drive traffic and provide valuable content.
