Afternoon Tea delights at Glee - GTN's Greatest Food & Drink Awards Announced

Afternoon Teas were the centre of attention in Food @ Glee as six garden centre teams competed for GTN's Greatest Garden Centre Afternoon Tea Award before the presentation of The Greatest Food and Drink Support Team Award and The Greatest Garden Centre Food & Drink Teams overall as voted for by their customers.

The winners in GTN's Greatest Garden Centre Food & Drink Awards 2025 were:

The Greatest Garden Centre Afternoon Tea Competition

Gold Awards

British Garden Centres

Great value for money and varied selection.

Liked the lemon posset which we didn’t see on any of the other teas, and the cheese and pickle quiche. Good sizes scones.

Planters Brookfields

Beautiful presentations.

Loved the chocolate coated strawberries which were a nice touch of luxury.

Cakes were a good size and of note was the option of a sweet or a savoury afternoon tea.

Planters Pacific

Great presentation and thoughtful selection of foods which included cheese and biscuits.

The take-away option was inspirational.

Silver Awards

Planters Bretby

Excellent savoury selection and the breakfast option was a brilliant idea to attract a different audience in the morning and extend the sales window of teas.

Bronze Awards

Planters Tamworth

Excellent scones, probably the best ones in the competition, and liked the addition of fresh fruit and salad.

Garden King

Loved the selection of cakes and the generous sausage roll.

The mini trifle was a really good idea.

A huge thank you to the teams taking part from the judges, GTN and the show visitors who got to sample some of the Afternoon Teas.  Read more about the competition in future issues of GTN Magazine.
