Hills Plants win Glee’s Green Heart Best Merchandising Display

Glee’s horticultural hub, the Green Heart, has seen Hills Plants crowned this year’s winners of the Best Glee Green Heart Display award.

Judged by Andy Bunker from Alton Garden Centres the Hills Plants stand stood out from amongst the competition thanks to its unique way of displaying houseplants.

Speaking of the winner, Andy Bunker said: “For me, it's got something for everyone; appealing in both range and pot size. Whilst they are a foliage houseplant grower, Hills Plants’ display demonstrates that, by adding a simple bit of flowering plant to the display, you can make a great garden centre display, especially when supported with some consumer information. The display created by the Hills team is outstanding and would certainly inspire impulse purchase.”

In recognition of their win, the team at Hills received a bottle of champagne and a certificate that will, no doubt, take pride of place at their Chichester headquarter. Talking at the award presentation Hill Plant’s Laura Marner said: “We’re over the moon to have won this award. Our display is all about creating the dream vision for houseplant lovers, something that we know so many retailers strive to do within their own stores. We hope that we’ve inspired a few to give it a go!”

Glee’s Matthew Mein said: “Huge congratulations to Hills Plants. The team has demonstrated how effective and impactful some simple floral additions can be. The design is also transferable to the shopfloor and I believe many of our visiting retailers will be inspired to recreate something within their own stores.”

Hills Plants is a fourth generation small business, dedicated to growing British houseplants since 1920. Recent developments for the company include a two-year journey to becoming peat-free and also the introduction of The Little Botanical brand.
