Playwrite is the longest-running wholesaler of children’s party filler toys, Christmas novelties and wrapped grotto gifts – and its products regularly feature in the GTN Top 50 Christmas Bestsellers by volume.

 

Although the company enjoys impressive distribution to garden centres, MD James Cornelius believes that a number of larger centres who do not yet buy from them are missing out on a lucrative opportunity for festive season pocket-money pick-up sales with excellent margins.

 

New buyers visiting the stand will be introduced to the company’s Top 10 bestsellers extracted from last Christmas’s GTN list, which James believes promise almost guaranteed sales success. Choose from items like the Jingle Bells stick (their overall Christmas top seller), Gingerbread Man Crayons, Magic Snow, Christmas Ducks (half a million sold last year), Plush Christmas Elves, Puzzle Cubes and Paper Chase.

 

Playwrite’s Christmas range now accounts for a third of its £3 million plus turnover – a far cry from the days after the First World War when the Cornelius family started to import wooden toys from then-Czechoslovakia. Today, it’s the fourth generation of the family in charge of sales of more than 2,000 different products.
