Altico has emerged as a strong and credible contender in the Landscape product market, successfully gaining hundreds of Garden Centre stockists nationwide in just 24 months. As demand for their product offer grows, Decorative Aggregates remain core to the business strategy, and progressive action is being taken to scale for growth.
Investment in high-speed automatic bagging lines in 2022 has enabled the business to respond with immediacy to the increase in demand this season. But it’s the introduction of a new state-of-the-art Wash Plant that is showcasing Altico’s credibility as a notable supplier.
Speaking of the facility, Operations Director Barrie King said: “This is a substantial investment and step forward for the company. Capable of delivering outputs in excess of 5,000 tonnes per week, this impressive Plant has made us even more productive. We can now offer the highest levels of product consistency and quality possible, where the results speak for themselves.”
Since its introduction at the start of the 2023 season, Altico report that the Wash Plant’s ability to produce pristine Aggregates has yielded retail customers with immediate, comparable sales increases.
And whilst the Wash Plant proves its worth in returning growth, it allows the business to look to the future - customising their product offer and remaining flexible to trial new and unique Decorative Aggregates, to broaden their market offer.
Owner Antony Harker said: “We’re creating the conditions to enable the expansion of our business, not only focusing on the fundamentals, but the technologies and machinery to exceed expectations. In the last year we’ve made significant key investments that strive to make us operationally efficient, whilst delivering the best products, best service and best availability in the market place.
Whilst the level of investment is high in relation to the current size of Altico as it stands today, we have a long-term perspective, a willingness to take calculated risks and we’re optimistic about the Garden Centre Sector. Our strategy has been to scale for growth very early on to support our retail customers, give us the ability to future-proof the business and allow us to stay ahead of customer demand.”
